Pirelli
Pirelli of Italy is the world's fifth largest tyre manufacturer, but what they might miss on rank they make up in quality.
Pirelli is the undisputed leader in the high end and high technology segments of the market. This is confirmed by Pirelli's stranglehold on the big three motor racing events; the World Rally Championships, Superbike World Championships, and the recently announced coup, the contract to be the sole Formula One tyre supplier beginning in 2011.
Pirelli's Scorpion ATR is lauded around the world, including by the giant USA consumer advocate, Consumers' Union, with over 7.3 million subscribers. It rates the Scorpion ATR as the best performing all-terrain tyre, based primarily on its impressive grip in both wet and dry conditions, excellent dry braking and hydroplaning resistance.
TyreLAND stocks all the great Pirelli tyres, including Scorpion ATR, P6, P7, PZero Rosso and the ultra classy PZero Nero.
Background
Founded 1872 in Milan by Giovanni Battista Pirelli, Pirelli initially specialised in rubber and derivative processes. The Pirelli tyre pedigree began with motor racing in the 1920s and the company went on to pioneer wide radial and low profile tyres.
