Background

The earliest corporate lineage for the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company was the M and M Company, which was formed by two brothers-in-law in Akron, Ohio in 1914. This merged in 1919 with Cincinnati auto parts dealer, I.J. Cooper, to form a company to manufacture new tyres. Today, it is the second largest tyre manufacturer in the USA.
